Fusible interfacings - not suitable for use on fabrics with embellishments, textured finishes, open work or metallic finishes
Sew in interfacings - suitable for use with all fabric types Item

Knitted interfacings are softer than the woven interfacings, and have more stretch both lengthwise and crosswise. Knitted interfacings can have an additional warp or weft thread to create more stability, making them particularly suited to tailoring, combining softness and stability to provide structure to a garment without compromising the drape or feel of the fabric.

Non-woven interfacings are made from synthetic fibres bonded or felted together to create different weights. Non-woven interfacings have no grain, so pieces can generally be cut to minimise waste. However, care should be taken when laying out pattern pieces, as non-woven interfacings generally used for dressmaking are stable lengthwise but have a stretch crosswise which varies with the weight of interfacing.
