Steel Boning Plastic Coated

Steel boning with plastic coating can be cut to length to provide firm support for corsets or used in longer lengths for hooped skirts, crinolines, and other costume features requiring support and shape.

Steel boning can be cut neatly using mole grips. Holding the steel firmly in the grip, flex the mole grip left and right to snap the steel cleanly. If you are cutting stays to length, each end will need to be filed to a rounded tip and coated to seal the end before being inserted into the channels, alternatively finish with metal boning end caps.
